Abstract:Objective To explore the effect of nursing intervention based on protective motivation theory in patients with inflammatory bowel disease. Methods A total of 200 patients with inflammatory bowel disease admitted to Department of Gastroenterology, Affiliated Hospital of Yangzhou University from October 2017 to October 2020 were selected, according to the random number table method, they were divided into control group (n = 100) and experimental group (n = 100). The control group received routine nursing, and the experimental group received nursing measures based on protective motivation theory. Both groups continued nursing for three months, self-management ability, quality of life, and treatment compliance were used to evaluate the effect of intervention. Scores of all life quality dimensions in experimental group were lower than those before intervention, and those in experimental group were lower than those in control group (P < 0.05); the scores of medication compliance and life compliance in both groups were higher than those before intervention, and the experimental group was higher than the control group (P < 0.05).
