Abstract:Objective To investigate the short-term clinical effect of Minocycline in the treatment of peri-implantitis. Methods A total of 98 patients with peri-implantitis admitted to Huaian First Hospital Affiliated to Nanjing Medical University from September 2020 to September 2021 were selected as the research objects, and they were divided into control group and study group according to random number table method, with 49 cases in each group. The control group was treated with Er, Cr: YSGG laser, the study group was treated with Minocycline on the basis of control group. Both groups were treated for four weeks. Clinical effects of two groups were compared. Gingival sulcus bleeding index and serum tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) level and urinary deoxypyridinoline (DPD) level were compared between two groups before and after treatment. The adverse reactions of two groups during treatment were compared. Results The short-term effect of study group was better than that of control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P < 0.05). Before treatment, there were no significant differences on gingival sulcus bleeding index, serum TNF-α level and urinary DPD level in two groups (P > 0.05). After treatment, gingival sulcus bleeding index, serum TNF-α level and urinary DPD level in two groups were lower than those before treatment, and study group was lower than control group (P < 0.05). There was no significant difference in the total incidence rate of adverse reactions between two groups (P > 0.05). Conclusion Er, Cr: YSGG laser combined with Minocycline is effective in treating peri-implantitis, it can improve gingival sulcus bleeding index, reduce inflammation and inhibit bone resorption, and it is safe and reliable.
