Abstract:Objective To study the clinical effect of floating needle therapy in the treatment of somatoform pain disorders in the elderly. Methods A total of 100 elderly patients with somatoform pain disorders admitted to the Seventh People’s Hospital of Hengshui City, Hebei Province from January to December 2020 were selected as the research objects. According to the random number table method, they were divided into the observation group and the control group, with 50 cases in each group. The control group was treated with Duloxetine and conventional acupuncture therapy, and the observation group was treated with Duloxetine and floating needle therapy. After 8 weeks of continuous treatment, the short-form McGill pain questionnaire (SF-MPQ) score, serum cortisol level, sleep quality (Pittsburgh sleep quality index [PSQI]) and quality of life were compared between the two groups before and after treatment. Results After treatment, the SF-MPQ scores in both groups were lower than those before treatment (P < 0.05), and that in the observation group was lower than that in the control group (P < 0.05). After treatment, the serum cortisol level of the observation group was lower than that before treatment, and that in the observation group was lower than that in the control group (P < 0.05). After treatment, PSQI scores in both groups were lower than those before treatment, and that in the observation group was lower than that in the control group (P < 0.05). After treatment, the scores of physiological function, psychological function, social relationship, and surrounding environment in both groups were higher than those before treatment, and those in the observation group were higher than those in the control group (P < 0.05). Conclusion Floating needle therapy combined with Duloxetine in the treatment of elderly patients with somatoform pain disorders can relieve pain, reduce serum cortisol level, and improve the quality of sleep and the quality of life of patients. It is worthy of clinical application.
