Abstract:Objective To explore the clinical effect of narrow-band intense pulsed light (DPL) combined with Timolol in the treatment of patients with mild to moderate acne. Methods A total of 102 patients with mild to moderate acne admitted to the Nanjing Hospital Affiliated to Nanjing University of Chinese Medicinel from January 2019 to May 2021 were selected as the research objects, and they were divided into combination group (51 cases) and control group (51 cases) according to the random number table method. The control group were treated with DPL, and the combination group were treated with Timolol on the basis of the control group. The clinical efficacy of the two groups after 12 weeky of treatments was compared, the acne-specific quality of life questionnaire (Acne-QOL), serum interleukin 1α (IL-1α) levels were compared between the two groups before and after treatment. The incidence of adverse reactions during treatment in the two groups was recorded. Results The clinical efficacy of the combination group was better than that of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P < 0.05). Before treatment, there was no significant difference in Acne-QOL scores between the two groups (P > 0.05), after treatment, the Acne-QOL scores of the two groups were higher than those before treatment, and the combination group was higher than the control group, the differences were statistically significant (P < 0.05). Before treatment, there was no significant difference in serum IL-1α levels between the two groups (P > 0.05), after treatment, serum IL-1α levels in the two groups were lower than those before treatment, and the combination group was lower than the control group, the differences were statistically significant (P < 0.05). There was no significant difference in the total incidence of complications between the two groups (P > 0.05). Conclusion DPL combined with Timolol has a definite effect in the treatment of patients with mild to moderate acne. It can improve the quality of life of patients, reduce the inflammation of the body, and it is safe and reliable.
