Abstract:Calcium-activated chloride channel regulator 1 (CLCA1) is a secretory autocatalytic lysate protein, a member of the CLCA family, that activates calcium-dependent chloride currents in mammalian cells and has zinc metalloproteinase properties. Through its metalloproteinase and anion channel activation, CLCA1 plays an important role in the pathogenesis of mucus hypersecretion-related diseases of the respiratory and digestive systems, such as bronchial asthma and ulcerative colitis. At the same time, it is involved in the occurrence and development of malignant tumors due to the conduction regulation of chloridion and other anions in epithelial cells. In this review, the molecular structure, related properties and the relationship between CLCA1 and related diseases are reviewed.
