Abstract:Objective To investigate the correlation between sleep quality, itching degree, and severity of psoriasis vulgaris patients with different traditional Chinese medicine syndromes. Methods From February to September 2021, 112 patients with psoriasis vulgaris were selected from the outpatient department of Dongzhimen Hospital of Beijing University of Chinese Medicine, they were divided into blood heat group, blood stasis group, and blood dryness group according to the dialectical classification of traditional Chinese medicine. They were investigated by sleep quality index (PSQI), insomnia severity index (ISI), visual analogue scales (VAS), and psoriasis area and severity index (PASI). Another 112 healthy volunteers were selected as the control group. Results Compared with blood heat group, ISI, and VAS scores were lower in blood stasis group, PSQI, PASI, and VAS scores were lower in blood dryness group (P < 0.05). Compared with blood stasis group, PASI score in blood dryness group was lower (P < 0.05). The subjective sleep quality, sleep time, and sleep efficiency scores of blood heat group were higher than those of control group (P < 0.05). The sleep time scores of blood heat group, blood stasis group, and blood dryness group were higher than those of control group (P < 0.05). The sleep disturbance score of blood heat group was higher than that of blood stasis group and control group (P < 0.05). The daytime dysfunction score of blood heat group was higher than that of blood stasis group and control group, and the daytime dysfunction score of blood dryness group was lower than that of blood heat group and control group (P < 0.05). PSQI, VAS scores were positively correlated with PASI scores in blood heat group (P < 0.05). Conclusion Different traditional Chinese medicine syndromes have different sleep quality, pruritus degree, and severity of disease. Blood dryness syndrome mainly to improve sleep quality, blood heat syndrome mainly to relieve pruritus, blood stasis syndrome mainly to treat the primary disease, could achieve better curative effect.
