Abstract:Objective To investigate the effect of nutritional support combined with palliative treatment on patients with advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Methods A total of 72 patients with advanced NSCLC from January 2018 to October 2020 in Ma’anshan Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine were divided into control group and study group by random number table method, with 36 patients in each group. The control group received conventional cancer treatment and the study group received nutritional support combined with palliative treatment for four weeks. The quality of life (EORTC QLQ-C30), karnofsky performance status (KPS), death attitude and negative emotion (depression scale [SDS] and self-rating anxiety scale [SAS]) of the two groups were measured. Results After intervention, the scores of overall health, role function, emotional function, cognitive function, and social function in the two groups were higher than those before intervention, and those of the study group were higher than the control group (P < 0.05). After intervention the KPS scores of the two groups increased, and the study group was higher than the control group (P < 0.05). After intervention, the scores of escape acceptance, death avoidance, and fear of death in the two groups were lower than those before intervention, and the study were lower than the control group, and the scores of approach acceptance and natural acceptance were higher than those before intervention, and the study group were higher than the control group (P < 0.05). After intervention the SDS and SAS scores of the two groups were lower than those before intervention, and the study group was lower than the control group (P < 0.05). Conclusion The combination of nutritional support and palliative treatment can regulate the physical and mental state of patients with advanced NSCLC, which is worth promoting.
