Abstract：“Original intention” is a concentrated reflection of a person’s inner sense of mission and values. The “original intention” of medical students is related to the development of China’s future medical and health undertakings. Based on the current situation of medical humanistic education, combining social cognition theory, the red medical spirit and the “beginner’s mind” education of medical students are combined, so as to enhance the sense of mission and responsibility of medical students. This paper discusses that red medical spirit is the basic mark and basic follow of Chinese medical practitioners, introduces the connotation and characteristics of red medical spirit, probes into the three dimensions of red medical spirit to cultivate medical students’ “original intention”, and puts forward three approaches for integrating red medical spirit into the process of medical students’ talent cultivation.
