Funding status and characteristics analysis of the National Natural Science Foundation of traditional Chinese medicine rheumatism and immunity from 2010 to 2019#br#

Abstract:Objective To understand the funding status of the National Natural Science Foundation of traditional Chinese medicine rheumatism and immunity from 2010 to 2019, and to conduct characteristic analysis. Methods From January 2019 to August 2020, the National Natural Science Fundation of China website “shared service network” collected in January 2010 to December 2019, nearly 10 years of general project of National Natural Science foundation, youth science fund project, the district science fund projects, and key projects in the field of rheumatic immunity of traditional Chinese medicine (internal Chinese medicine and combining Chinese and Western medicine) were analyzed. Results A total of 389 projects were funded from 2010 to 2019. The institutions with the highest number of funded projects were universities of Chinese medicine in Zhejiang, Shanghai, Jiangsu, Fujian, Guangdong, and other places. For more than two consecutive funding projects, Zhejiang Chinese medicine university (9 people, 20 items), Fujian University of traditional Chinese medicine (5 people, 14 items), Guang’anmen Hospital of China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences (6 people, 13 items), Beijing University of Chinese Medicine (5 people, 11 items), Southern Medical University (4 people, 11 items) were among the top five. The top six diseases in terms of funding amount were rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, gout and hyperuricemia, ankylosing spondylitis, and sjogren’s syndrome. Conclusion The National natural Science Foundation of China has continuously increased in the number and amount of funding in the field of traditional Chinese medicine rheumatism, because some universities and hospitals of traditional Chinese medicine have a deep foundation and focus on discipline development, and have many funded projects. Diseases of funded projects are unbalanced.
