Abstract:Objective To analyze the current situation of employee job satisfaction and the influencing factors in a tertiary-level A women’s and children’s hospital in Shenzhen (hereinafter referred to as “FY hospital”), and to provide a basis for the improvement of the hospital’s human resources management and decision-making. Methods A questionnaire was designed based on the Minnesota job satisfaction scale, and a random sampling method was used to conduct a questionnaire survey among 200 employees of FY hospital from June to August 2020. A multiple linear regression model was used to analyze the effect of job category on job satisfaction. Results A total of 180 valid questionnaires were recovered in this survey, with a recovery rate of 90.0%. The overall satisfaction of employees in FY hospital was (3.53±0.43) points, and the employee satisfaction score of “salary and welfare” in each dimension was the lowest (2.78±0.68) points. There were statistically significant differences in the overall satisfaction scores of employees with different genders, job categories, professional titles, and political affiliations (P < 0.05). Comparing the satisfaction scores of clinicians, nursing staff, medical technicians, administration, and other departments in the three dimensions of “work pressure”, “doctor-patient conflict”, and “shift scheduling system”, the differences were statistically significant (P < 0.05). After adjusting for age, gender, professional title and political outlook, clinicians and nurses had lower satisfaction scores in overall job satisfaction, job stress and doctor-patient relationship (P < 0.05 or P < 0.01). In addition, the satisfaction score of clinicians in the scheduling system was also lower than that of medical technicians, administrative staff and other departments (P < 0.05). Conclusion Staff satisfaction with remuneration and benefits is low, and the job satisfaction of clinicians and nurses is lower than that of medical technicians, administration and other departments. Hospitals should take measures to improve the job satisfaction of clinical front-line medical staff.
