Abstract:Objective To explore the effect of different systems in the protection of access for continuous invasive blood pressure monitoring in elderly patients with septic shock. Methods A total of 80 elderly patients with septic shock who were placed with arterial pressure monitoring catheters in West China Hospital of Sichuan University from May 2020 to May 2021 were selected and divided into experimental group and control group by random number table method, with 40 cases in each group. The experimental group was given a total closed system to monitor the arterial pressure for access protection, while the control group was given the general system. The postoperative catheter retention time, catheter complications, stability, and comfort of the arterial pressure measurement system were compared between the two groups. Results The catheter indwelling time in the experimental group was longer than that in the control group, while the time for a single collection of blood gas analysis specimens in the experimental group was shorter than that in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P < 0.05). The bleeding rate, swelling rate, tube blocking rate, and complication rate in the experimental group were lower than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant (P < 0.05). There was no statistically significant difference in the number of abnormal numerical values and the number of abnormal waveforms between the two groups (P > 0.05). The comfort level of the experimental group was higher than that of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P < 0.05). Conclusion The fully closed system has the same effect as the general system in maintaining the stability of the arterial pressure measurement system, which can reduce the occurrence of complications and improve the patient’s comfort.
