Mediating effect of family function on self-efficacy and psychological distress in tuberculosis patients#br#

Abstract：Objective To explore the relationship between family function, self-efficacy, and psychological distress in patients with tuberculosis. Methods A total of 274 tuberculosis patients in the department of respiratory of a hospital in Xinjiang were selected from November 2020 to April 2021, and the family functioning scale, general self-efficacy scale, and simple psychological status rating scale were used for questionnaire survey. Pearson correlation was used for correlation analysis of each variable, and bootstrap method was used to verify the mediation effect model. Results There was a positive correlation between family functioning and self-efficacy (r = 0.351, P ＜ 0.01), and a negative correlation between psychological distress and self-efficacy and family functioning (r = -0.327, -0.520, P ＜ 0.01). The mediating effect of family function on the prediction of self-efficacy, and psychological distress was 55.04%. Conclusion The psychological distress of tuberculosis patients is mild, self-efficacy and family functioning are inverse predictors of psychological distress, and self-efficacy indirectly affectes psychological distress through family functioning.
