Abstract:Objective To explore the application effect of the teaching mode of the mind mapping combined with clinical case study in 5-year undergraduate interns teaching in the department of respiratory medicine. Methods Sixty undergraduate clinical medicine interns of Beijing University of Chinese Medicine from September to October 2020 were selected as the research subjects, and they were divided into control group and observation group by random number table method, 30 cases in each group. All interns practiced in the department of respiratory medicine for four weeks. Observation group was taught by the teaching mode of mind mapping combined with clinical case study, control group was taught by traditional cilinical practice teaching mode. The grades of the entrance department examination and leave department examination of interns in both groups were compared, and the basic knowledge learning effect, and clinical operational ability of interns in the both groups were analyzed, questionnaire survey was used to evaluate students’ evaluation of the teaching method. Results After leave department, the average scores of basic knowledge examination and clinical skill examination in the observation group were higher than those in the control group (P < 0.05); the substandard proportion in inquiry, physical examination, mastery of illness, medical record writing, thoracic puncture, sputum aspiration, arteriovenous blood collection, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation in the observation group were lower than those in the control group (P < 0.05); the qualified number of aseptic concept, health education, operation ability (puncture, catheterization, etc.), independent learning and communication in the observation group were higher than those in the control group (P < 0.05), there was no significant difference in the qualified number of innovative thinking between the two groups (P > 0.05). The questionnaire results showed that mind mapping combined with clinical case study was helpful to improve the quality and effect of clinical teaching. Students had a positive attitude towards this teaching method. Conclusion In the teaching of undergraduate interns in the department of respiratory medicine, the teaching mode of mind mapping combined with clinical case study is conducive to stimulate students’ interest in learning, improve learning efficiency, and help students to master clinical knowledge and skills, which should be vigorously promoted in clinical practice.
