Abstract:Objective To evaluate the development of medical science and technology in the century after the founding of the Communist Party of China (CPC) from the perspective of bibliometrics. Methods The scientific research papers and medical research papers published by Chinese scholars from 1921 to 2020 included in science citation index database were searched, the research scale, academic achievements, and academic influence of medical science and technology in China were analyzed quantitatively, Excel 2010 was used to analyze the included literature. Results Over the century since the founding of the CPC, the total number of medical research papers published in China had reached 1 556 900, ranking fourth in the world. In the past decade, the total citation frequency of scientific research papers had exceeded 14 million times, ranking third in the world. The citation influence value of discipline standardization increased to 1.46. The number of highly cited papers reached 2154, ranking the second in the world. The number of papers published by Chinese scholars in international top medical journals has increased rapidly. The number of Chinese international cooperation documents accounted for 22.33%. Conclusion After one hundred years of development, the output scale and quality of medical research papers in China have been significantly improved, and international cooperation has been strengthened.
