Abstract:Objective To explore professor Liu Daxin’s medication rules for the treatment of idiopathic tinnitus by using data mining technology, and to provide guidance for clinical medication. Methods A total of 538 patients with idiopathic tinnitus who visited Professor Liu Daxin’s clinic in Department of Otolaryngology, Dongfang Hospital, Beijing University of Chinese Medicine Dongfang Hospital from January 2017 to August 2020 were collected, and traditional Chinese medicine prescriptions were extracted to establish a database. SPSS Statistics 25.0 and SPSS Modeler 18.0 statistical software were used to analyze idiopathic tinnitus medication frequency, four nature of drugs and five flavour, channel tropism rules and cluster analysis, and summarized Professor Liu Daxin’s clinical medication rule for idiopathic tinnitus. Results A total of 538 prescriptions were included, with a total of 110 medicines. The frequency of use was 7678 times. The frequency of use was ≥80 and the top 10 drugs were Poria, Radix Bupleuri, Radix Glycyrrhizae, Radix Paeoniae Alba, Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae, Radix Polygalae, Fructus Liquidambaris, Rhizoma Ligustici Chuanxiong, Radix Cyathulae, and Radix Codonopsis. The proportions of the four nature of drugs in descending order were warm, flat, slightly cold, cold, lukewarm, cool, hot and hot. The proportions of the five flavors of traditional Chinese medicine from high to low were pungent, sweet, bitter, sour, slightly bitter, light, astringent, salty, and slightly sweet. The liver accounted for the highest proportion of traditional Chinese medicine, followed by lung and spleen. The high-frequency drug combination was Radix Glycyrrhizae+Poria→Radix Bupleuri; Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae + Radix Paeoniae Alba + Poria→Radix Bupleuri; Radix Polygalae + Radix Paeoniae Alba + Radix Bupleuri→Poria. Chinese medicine could be grouped into five categories, mainly for soothing the liver and regulating qi, promoting blood circulation to clear orifice, invigorating the spleen, invigorating dampness, invigorating the kidney and calming the nerves. Conclusion Professor Liu Daxin’s clinical treatment of tinnitus focuses on soothing the liver and relieving depression, promoting qi and blood circulation, strengthening the spleen and dampness, soothing the nerves and replenishing the kidneys.
