The control group was treated with conventional Western medicine, and the combined group was treated with Jianpi Qingre Shengjiang Decoction combined with Western medicine. Both groups were treated for eight weeks. Traditional Chinese medicine symptom score, clinical efficacy, serum gastrin (GAS) and plasma pepsin (PG) Ⅰ and Ⅱ levels and adverse reactions were compared between the two groups. Results There was no significant difference in traditional Chinese medicine symptom score between the two groups before treatment (P > 0.05). After treatment, the scores of traditional Chinese medicine symptoms in both groups were higher than those before treatment, and the combined group was higher than the control group, the differences were statistically significant (P < 0.05). After treatment, the total effective rate of combined group was higher than that of control group, the difference was statistically significant (P < 0.05). There were no significant differences in serum GAS and plasma PG Ⅰ and PG Ⅱ levels between the two groups before treatment (P > 0.05). After treatment, the levels of serum GAS and plasma PG Ⅰ in both groups were higher than those before treatment, and those in the combined group were higher than those in the control group. The levels of plasma PG Ⅱ in both groups were lower than those before treatment, and those in the combined group were lower than those in the control group, with statistical significances (P < 0.05). There was no significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups (P > 0.05). Conclusion The combination of Jianpi Qingre Shengjiang Decoction combined with Western medicine in the treatment of reflux esophagitis can improve the clinical symptoms, with definite curative effect, and improve serum GAS and plasma PG levels, which is safe and reliable.
