Abstract:Objective To investigate occurrence and influencing factor analysis of different parts of plaque in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Methods 1325 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus in Endocrinology Department of Yantai Yuhuangding Hospital from December 2015 to March 2017 were selected. According to Doppler ultrasound results, all patients were stratified into two groups: no plaque group (271 cases) and plaque group (1054 cases). Then plaque group was divided into carotid artery plaque subgroup (141 cases), lower extremity artery plaque subgroup (247 cases) and multi-postion artery plaque subgroup (666 cases). Multiple factor Logistic regression was used to analyze risk factors of the formation of atherosclerotic plaques. Results Total prevalence of peripheral arterial lesion was 79.55% (1054/1325), the carotid arterial lesions was 10.64% (141/1325) and the lower extremity arterial disease was 18.64% (247/1325). Age, hypertension were the common risk factors in different parts of the plaque; gender, TG and HbA1c level were specific risk factors for the formation of lower extremity artery plaque (OR=3.293, 1.727, 1.989). LDL-C level was unique risk for carotid artery plaque formation (OR=1.716). Conclusion In patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus, the occurrence of vascular lesion in different parts is different, the lower extremity arteries lesions are higher than those in the carotid arteries. The risk factors in different parts of atherosclerosis are not all the same. LDL-C level is mainly affect the carotid artery plaque. Gender, TG and HbA1c are unique risk factors for the formation of lower extremity artery atherosclerosis plaque.
