Abstract:Objective To study the effect of modified self-made Qingre Tongluo Decoction in treating peripheral facial paralysis due to wind-heat. Methods 100 patients with peripheral facial paralysis due to wind-heat in Sanhe Hospital and Sanhe Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital from August 2015 to January 2017 were selected. They were divided into treatment group and control group by random number table, with 50 cases in each group. The treatment group was treated by modified self-made Qingre Tongluo Decoction. The control group was treated by routine western medicine treatment. They were treated for 30 days. The clinical efficacy, scores of symptoms and signs and adverse reactions were compared. Results After treatment, the cure rate and total effective rate in the treatment group were significantly higher than those in the control group, with statistically significant difference (P < 0.05). After treatment, the scores of symptoms and signs including facial expressions, forehead wrinkles disappear, eyes closed, nasolabial fold shallow, mouth askew degree in two groups were significantly lower than those before treatment; and those scores in the treatment group were significantly lower than those in the control group, with statistically significant difference (P < 0.05). There were no serious adverse reactions between the two groups. Conclusion It is effective and safe to treat peripheral facial paralysis due to wind-heat by modified self-made QingreTongluo Decoction, which is worthy of clinical application.
