Abstract:Palpitation is one of the common clinical diseases, which seriously affects the physical and mental health and interferes with the life and work of patients. Meanwhile, traditional Chinese medicine treatment plays a particular therapeutic role. Professor Wang Qingguo, who has been conducting medical practice for more than 50 years and has rich clinical experience, recommends the diagnosis and treatment strategy by organically combining “disease, syndrome, and symptom”, so that doctors could grasp the main contradiction of palpitation, predict the trend of the disease evolution and use targeted drugs to minimize the patient’s suffering. This article introduces Professor Wang Qingguo’s understanding of the etiology and pathogenesis of palpitation and summarizes his academic thinking and commonly used prescriptions from three aspects: combining Chinese and Western medicine to identify the disease, identifying the syndrome and choosing the therapy based on the outline of deficiency and excess, and adjusting the medication prescription to restore the heart rhythm according to the symptoms. Besides, a typical clinical case is also attached for reference.
