Traditional Chinese medicine translation theory and discourse power remodeling

Abstract：Chinese language is the medium of ancient dissemination of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). However, recently China does not have sufficient discourse power in TCM dissemination, namely, the lack of discourse power in the selection of standard TCM English terms and the dwarfing of TCM culture in the shadow of modern medicine make it urgent for us to remodel the discourse power in TCM translation. Having distinguished the conceptual logic in translation studies, the author proposes that to reshape the discourse power in TCM translation from a theoretical perspective, translators should adhere to the thought of TCM cultural translation, take the foreignization translation strategy as the leading role, build a TCM translation theory of multi-dimensional integration of “translation thought - translation strategy - translation methods”, which serves to guide the translation practice of TCM classics and win the leading role in the selection of standard TCM English terms, avoid the tendency of desinicization in TCM translation, and promote the international dissemination of TCM culture.
