Abstract:Objective To investigate clinical effect of supporting qi and enriching blood and promoting diuresis and diffusing dampness method in the treatment of urinary retention after stroke. Methods One hundred and twenty-two patients with urinary retention after stroke admitted to Chengde Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital, Hebei Province from January 2017 to September 2021 were selected and divided into reference group and observation group according to the random number table method, with 61 cases in each group. Reference group was given basic treatment and bladder function training, and observation group was given comprehensive treatment of supporting qi and enriching blood and promoting diuresis and diffusing dampness method on the basis of reference group. Both groups were treated for 14 days. Clinical effect, traditional Chinese medicine syndrome score, urination, bladder function score and specific stroke quality of life (SS-QOL) score between the two groups were compared. Results Clinical effect of observation group was better than that of reference group, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). After treatment, the scores of hypoabdominal distension, micturition weakness and mental fatigue in the two groups were lower than those before treatment, and observation group was lower than that control group, the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). After treatment, the number of urination and average urine volume in the two groups were more than those before treatment, and the residual urine volume in the two groups was less than that before treatment, and the number of urination and average urine volume in observation group were more than those in reference group, and the residual urine volume in observation group was less than that in reference group, the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). After treatment, the bladder function score of the two groups was lower than that before treatment, and the SS-QOL score of the two groups was higher than that before treatment, and the bladder function score of observation group was lower than that of reference group, and the SS-QOL score of observation group was higher than that of reference group, the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusion The comprehensive treatment of supporting qi and enriching blood and promoting diuresis and diffusing dampness method in the treatment of urinary retention after stroke has a significant effect, and it can significantly improve bladder function.
