Abstract:Objective To analyze the cognitive function characteristics and related influencing factors of middle-aged patients with obstructive hypopnea sleep apnea syndrome (OSAHS). Methods A total of 98 middle-aged patients with OSAHS admitted to the Third People’s Hospital of Nantong City from January to November 2022 were included in the observation group, and 98 middle-aged healthy subjects were included in the control group during the same period. Baseline data of the two groups were collected, and Montreal cognitive assessment and polysomnography monitoring were performed to analyze the cognitive function characteristics and related influencing factors of OSAHS patients. Results The frequency of apnea in the observation group was higher than that in the control group, the longest apnea time and the average apnea time were longer than that in the control group, and the minimum oxygen saturation in arterial blood (SaO2) and the average level of SaO2 were lower than that in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). The scores of attention, delayed memory, visual space, and executive dimension of the Montreal cognitive assessment scale in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). Logistic analysis showed that SaO2 level was an independent risk factor for cognitive impairment in OSAHS patients (OR>1, P<0.05). Conclusion OSAHS can lead to cognitive impairment in patients, and the concentrated manifestations are attention, delayed memory, visuospatial and executive dysfunction. SaO2 level is an independent risk factor for cognitive impairment in patients with OSAHS. Targeted intervention measures can be taken to reduce the risk of cognitive impairment in patients.
