Application progress of antidepressants in inflammatory bowel disease

Abstract：Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is a chronic, recurrent, non-specific intestinal inflammatory disease. Its incidence is increasing year by year and the etiology is unknown. At present, there is no cure. The disease has characteristics of repeated attacks and prolonged, which brings great psychological burden to patients, and the risk of depression and anxiety is greatly increased. Research in recent years has shown that antidepressants can change the course of IBD patients and improve the prognosis. The mechanism of action may be to achieve anti-inflammatory and improve structure through brain-intestinal axis. This article reviews the relationship between antidepressants and IBD in order to promote the study of antidepressants in IBD.
