Abstract:Objective To analyze the effects of medical counseling games on children with hidden penis and their families. Methods A total of 130 children with latent penis and their families admitted to Taizhou Hospital of Zhejiang Province from January to August 2022 were studied. According to the random envelope method, the patients were divided into control group (using conventional nursing intervention) and observation group (using medical counseling game combined with conventional nursing intervention), with 65 cases in each group. Before and after the intervention, the modified yale preoperative anxiety scale (m-YPAS) and the anxiety scores of their families on the state-trait anxiety inventory (STAI), the compliance behavior of children, the facial expression, legs, activity crying, and consolability (FLACC), the health knowledge of their families and the postoperative recovery status were compared between the two groups. Results Before surgery, the scores of m-YPAS and STAI were lower in the two groups than at admission, and those in the observation group were lower than those in the control group (P<0.05); on discharge day, compliance behavior score in two groups was higher than that at admission, and observation group was higher than control group (P<0.05); 6 h after surgery, 12 h after surgery and before discharge, the FLACC scores of the two groups was compared in time and between groups, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). Compared within the group, the FLACC scores of the two groups at 12 h after surgery was higher than that at 6 h after surgery, and the FLACC score before discharge was lower than that at 6 h after surgery (P<0.05), the FLACC score of observation group was lower than that of control group at different time (P<0.05). The family members of the observation group had better knowledge of health than the control group (P<0.05); the time of getting out of bed and discharge in observation group were shorter than those in control group (P<0.05). The total complication rate of observation group was lower than that of control group (P<0.05). Conclusion Medical counseling games can reduce the preoperative anxiety of children with occult penis surgery and their parents, improve the compliance behavior of children, and their families’ grasp of health knowledge, reduce the degree of postoperative pain of children, promote postoperative recovery, and have clinical reference significance.
