Abstract:Objective To investigate the correlation between serum interleukin (IL)-17, IL-23, transforming growth factor -β (TGF-β) with cognitive function in patients with Alzheimer’s disease (AD). Methods A total of 101 AD patients admitted to the Seventh People’s Hospital of Wenzhou, Zhejiang Province from February 2019 to April 2021 were selected as the research objects, and divided into severe group (22 cases) and mild-moderate group (79 cases) according to the degree of cognitive dysfunction. The clinical data of the two groups were compared, and the factors affecting the degree of cognitive dysfunction in AD patients were analyzed, the value of each index in evaluating the degree of cognitive dysfunction was further discussed. Results Age, proportion of living alone, levels of IL-17, IL-23, TGF-β in severe group were higher than those in mild-moderate group, and time of education was shorter than that in mild-moderate group (P<0.05). Multivariate analysis showed that after adjusting for age, living alone (OR=4.162, 95%CI: 1.125-15.398), the levels of IL-17 (OR=5.057, 95%CI: 2.774-9.219), IL-23 (OR=4.462, 95%CI: 1.892-10.523), and TGF-β (OR=3.331, 95%CI: 1.174-9.451) were the factors influencing the degree of cognitive dysfunction in AD patients (P<0.05). The results of receiver operator characteristic curve showed that IL-17, IL-23, TGF-β, and their combination had diagnostic value on the degree of cognitive dysfunction in AD patients (P<0.05). Conclusion The levels of IL-17, IL-23, and TGF-β in AD patients are related to their cognitive function, which can be used for diagnosis and treatment of AD in clinical work.
