Effects of acupuncture and moxibustion combined with five elements music therapy on anxiety and depression, sleep quality, and quality of life in patients with early-onset ovarian insufficiency with spleen-kidney yang deficiency type

Abstract:Objective To explore the effects of acupuncture and moxibustion combined with five elements music therapy on anxiety and depression, sleep quality, and quality of life in patients with early-onset ovarian insufficiency of spleen-kidney yang deficiency type. Methods A total of 83 patients with early-onset ovarian insufficiency of spleen-kidney yang deficiency type in Shijiazhuang Municipal Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from September 2020 to September 2021 were selected. They were divided into observation group (41 cases) and control group (42 cases). The patients in the control group were treated with acupuncture and moxibustion, and the observation group was treated with five element music therapy on the basis of control group, the treatment lasted for three months. Symptom scores, Pittsburgh sleep quality index scale (PSQI), quality of life scale-100 (QOL-100) were compared between two groups before treatment, one and three months after treatment; the scores of self-rating anxiety scale (SAS) and self-rating depression scale (SDS) were compared between two groups before treatment and three months after treatment. Results After one and three months of treatment, symptom scores and PSQI scores of two groups were lower than those before treatment; after three months of treatment, symptom scores and PSQI scores in both groups were lower than those after one month of treatment (P<0.05). After one and three months of treatment, symptom scores and PSQI scores in observation group were lower than those in control group (P<0.05). After three months of treatment, the SAS and SDS scores of two groups were lower than those before treatment, and observation group was lower than control group (P<0.05). After one and three months of treatment, QOL-100 scores in both groups were higher than those before treatment; after three months of treatment, the QOL-100 scores in both groups were higher than those after one month of treatment, the QOL-100 scores of observation group was higher than those of control group (P<0.05). Conclusion Acupuncture and moxibustion combined with five elements music therapy can effectively alleviate the symptoms of patients with early-onset ovarian insufficiency of spleen-kidney yang deficiency type, reduce their anxiety and depression, and improve their sleep quality and quality of life, which is worthy of clinical promotion.
