Abstract:Objective To explore the therapeutic effect of minimally invasive percutaneous plate osteosynthesis throngh lateral extended approach for patients with intra-articular calcaneal fractures. Methods From June 2017 to June 2021, 82 patients with intra-articular calcaneal fractures from Zhangjiagang Second People’s Hospital in Jiangsu Province were selected and they were divided into experimental group and reference group according to the random number table method, with 41 patients in each group. The experimental group was treated with percutaneous minimally invasive plate internal fixation through the lateral extended approach, and the reference group was treated with traditional lateral L-shaped plate internal fixation. The perioperative indicators (preoperative waiting time, intraoperative bleeding, operation time, hospitalization time) and fracture recovery were compared between the two groups, and the Gissane angle, B?觟hler angle, and foot joint function (marland foot function score [MFS]) were compared before and six months after the operation, and the complications occurred within three months after the operation. Results The hospitalization time of the experimental group was shorter than that of the control group (P < 0.05). There was no significant difference in excellent and good rate between the two groups (P > 0.05). There were no significant differences in Gissane angle and B?觟hler angle between the two groups before operation and six months after operation (P > 0.05). Gissane angle and B?觟hler angle in the two groups at six months after operation were significantly higher than those before operation (P < 0.05). At six months after operation, the MFS scores of the two groups were higher than those before operation, and the function and range of motion in the MFS scores of the experimental group were higher than those of the reference group (P < 0.05). The total incidence of complications in the experimental group was lower than that in the reference group (P < 0.05). Conclusion The application of external extended approach percutaneous minimally invasive plate internal fixation for patients with intra-articular calcaneal fractures can shorten hospital stay, improve foot function, improve mobility, and reduce complications.
