Abstract：Objective To integrate the results of qualitative research on the concept of death of dignity in patients and their families. Methods Chinese databases including CNKI, Wanfang, VIP, and CBM Database, while English databases included PubMed, EMbase, CochraneLibrary, CINAHL, Web of Science, and PsycINFO were searched, qualitative studies on end-of-life patients’ and their families’ perceptions of death with dignity were searched from database construction to April 2021. The literatures were evaluated using JBI evidence-based health care center quality evaluation criteria, and the results were integrated using an aggregative integration method. Results Five results were extracted: self-realization, no burden, value embodiment, multi-care and spiritual strength. Conclusion Maintaining the dignity of patients at the end of life is the core of improving the quality of death, dignified death needs to fully respect personal will, cultural sensitivity and family-oriented intervention methods on the basis of symptom control and comfort care.
