Abstract：Professor Gao Yimin is good at treating gastric intestinal metaplasia. He believes that the causes of gastric intestinal metaplasia are both external and internal. “Disharmony between spleen and stomach, deficiency of vital qi and accumulation of toxic substance” is the basic pathogenesis. For gastric intestinal metaplasia, early intervention of traditional Chinese medicine should be carried out according to the principle of “preventive treatment of disease” in traditional Chinese medicine to prevent its progress. The treatment needs the combination of disease differentiation and syndrome differentiation. In the treatment of chronic gastritis based on syndrome differentiation, the basic prescription is his experienced prescription Jianpi Hewei Yin, which should be modified according to the symptoms of patients. In the treatment of gastric intestinal metaplasia based on disease differentiation, Yupingfeng San plus Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium, Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, Chelidonii Herba and Rabdosiae Rubescentis Herba are the fixed prescription, which should be used consistently. In the process of treatment, we should pay attention to the principle of strengthening vital qi to eliminate pathogenic factor, and adjust the medication at any time according to the specific situation of patients’ vital qi and pathogenic qi.
