Application effect of health education based on the concept of strength in patients with colostomy after rectal cancer surgery

Abstract:Objective To explore the clinical effect of health education based on the concept of strength applied to patients with colostomy after rectal cancer surgery. Methods A total of 100 patients with colostomy after rectal cancer surgery in the Affiliated Huaian NO.1 People’s Hospital of Nanjing Medical University were selected from January 2018 to December 2019, and they were divided into intervention group and control group according to the random number table method, with 50 cases in each group. The control group was given regular health education, and the intervention group was combined with health education based on the concept of strength on the basis of the control group. Follow-up for 12 weeks, the ostomy adjustment inventory-20 (OAI-20), the exercise of self-care agency (ESCA), and quality of life questionnaire colorectal cancer module (QLQ-CR38) were used to assess the social and psychological adaptability, self-nursing ability and quality of life of the two groups. Results Follow-up for 12 weeks, the OAI-20 scores of the two groups were higher than before the intervention, while the intervention group was higher than the control group, and the differencess were statistically significant (P < 0.05); the ESCA scores of the two groups were higher than before the intervention, while the intervention group was higher than the control group, and the differences were statistically significant (P < 0.05); the QLQ-CR38 scores of the two groups were higher than before the intervention, and the intervention group was higher than the control group, and the differences were statistically significant (P < 0.05). Conclusion Health education based on the concept of strong will help to enhance the psychosocial adaptability of patients with colostomy after rectal cancer surgery, enhance their self-care ability, and improve the quality of life, which is of great significance for improving the prognosis.
