Abstract：Objective To analyze the difficulties and challenges of public health prevention and control ability of specialized hospitals, and to put forward countermeasures and suggestions, using by the principles and methods of grounded theory. Methods From June to August 2022, 12 experts from four Grade-A hospitals in Beijing (Peking Union Medical College Hospital, Fuwai Hospital, Tumor Hospital, and Plastic Surgery Hospital Affiliated to Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences) were interviewed in a semi-structured manner about the challenges and suggestions of public health prevention and control capacity building of specialized hospitals, and the interview data were summarized and extracted by using grounded theory. Results Twelve initial categories, six main categories, and three core categories were summarized to form an analysis model of difficulties and challenges in the prevention and control ability of public health in specialized hospitals from three aspects: population risk, discipline construction and resource allocation. Conclusion It is suggested to improve the daily prevention and control level and emergency handling capacity of specialized hospitals from three aspects: improving emergency response mechanism, strengthening discipline construction, and personnel training, and optimizing material reserve strategy.
