Research progress of the diagnosis and treatment of combined periodontal-endodontic lesions |

Abstract Combined periodontal-endodontic lesions is a common oral disease among the middle-aged and elderly population, whose diagnosis and treatment are usually complicated. In this study, a total of 164 literatures directly related to combined periodontal-endodontic lesions in recent 15 years (2005—2020) were screened out through literature retrieval (PubMed and VIP full-text databases) and extensive reading. Then, an intensive reading, data summary and analysis of the selected literatures were done, and the research progress of the pathogenesis and risk factor, diagnose and differential diagnosis, classification, treatment, and prognosis associated with combined periodontal-endodontic lesions were reviewed, aiming at providing a guidance for its clinical diagnosis and treatment.
