| Comparison of three commonly used evaluation criteria for potentially inappropriate medication in elderly |

Abstract The elderly have a higher risk of potentially inappropriate medication (PIM), so reasonable medication evaluation standards are needed to guide the clinical medication of the elderly. This article compares the Beers standard, the screening tool of older persons’ prescription (STOPP) / screening tool to alert to right treatment (START) standard, and the “Criteria of potentially inappropriate medications for older adults in China rational drug use branch of Chinese”. Through comparative studies, it is found that the contents of these three standards have overlaps and different items. Different standards will lead to differences in the incidence of PIM. Only by adopting appropriate standards can we choose more reasonable clinical medications for the elderly.
