| Clinical study of auricular acupoint embedding combined with acupuncture in the treatment of perimenopausal insomnia |

Abstract Objective To explore clinical effect of auricular acupoint embedding combined with acupuncture in the treatment of perimenopausal insomnia. Methods From December 2017 to June 2019, 100 cases of perimenopausal insomnia were selected from the Outpatient Department and Inpatient Department of the First Affiliated Hospital of Heilongjiang University of Chinese Medicine. They were divided into observation group (50 cases) and control group (50 cases) by random number table method. Observation group was treated by pressing auricular point and embedding acupuncture combined with acupuncture, while control group was treated by Estazolam. The levels of serum estrogen (E2), follicle stimulating hormone (FSH), 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT), noradrenaline (NE), sleep time and total scores of Pittsburgh sleep quality index (PSQI) were observed before and after treatment in two groups. Results The scores of sleep time and total scores of PSQI after treatment of two groups were lower than those before treatment, which of observation group were lower than those of control group, the differences were statistically significant (P < 0.05 or P < 0.01). The serum E2 level of two groups after treatment was higher than that before treatment, and that of observation group was higher than that of control group; the serum FSH levels of two groups after treatment were lower than those before treatment, and that of observation group was lower than that of control group, the differences were statistically significant (P < 0.05 or P < 0.01). The serum 5-HT levels of two groups after treatment were higher than those before treatment, and that of observation group was higher than that of control group; the levels of serum NE after treatment in two groups were lower than those before treatment, and that in observation group was lower than that in control group, the differences were statistically significant (P < 0.05 or P < 0.01). Conclusion Auricular acupuncture embedding combined with acupuncture can improve the sleep quality of perimenopausal patients by promoting the expression of serum E2, 5-HT and inhibiting the expression of serum FSH, NE.
