| Effect of Wenyang Huayu Tuihuang Decoction in the treatment of hepatitis B-related chronic and acute liver failure |

Abstract Objective To observe clinical efficacy of Wenyang Huayu Tuihuang Decoction in the treatment of hepatitis B-related chronic and acute liver failure (ACLF). Methods From March 2016 to March 2018, 70 patients with hepatitis B-related ACLF were selected from Department of Hepatology in the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangxi University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. They were divided into control group and observation group by using random number table method with 35 cases in each group. Control group was treated with western medicine. Observation group was treated with Wenyang Huayu Tuihuang Decoction on basis of control group. The treatment course was 8 weeks, and observation period was 24 weeks. Clinical symptom score, laboratory indexes [total bilirubin (TBiL), glutamic-pyruvic transaminase (ALT), glutamic oxalacetic transaminase (AST), albumin (ALB), prothrombin altivity (PTA), blood amrnonia] efficacy, adverse reactions and survival rate after 24 weeks were observed between groups. Results After treatment, clinical symptom scores of two groups were lower than before treatment, and observation group was lower than control group, the difference was statistically significant (P < 0.05). After treatment, TBiL, ALT, AST and blood ammonia of two groups were lower than before treatment, ALB and PTA of two groups were higher than before treatment, observation group improved significantly than control group, the difference was statistically significant (P < 0.05). After treatment of 8 weeks, total effective rate of observation group was higher than that of control group, the difference was statistically significant (P < 0.05). No significant adverse reactions occurred in two groups during treatment. The survival rate after treatment of 24 weeks in observation group was significantly higher than that in control group (P < 0.05). Conclusion Wenyang Huayu Tuihuang Decoction is helpful to improve the clinical symptoms of patients with hepatitis B-related ACLF, improve the quality of life and efficacy, and the survival rate is high, which is suitable for clinical promotion.
