Effects of Sodium Cantharidate and vitamin B6 on apoptosis and survivin expression in human osteosarcoma cells |

Abstract Objective To study the mechanism of Sodium Cantharidate and vitamin B6 inducing apoptosis of MG-63 cells. Methods The different concentrations of Sodium Cantharidinate and vitamin B6 were applied in MG-63 cells, the anti-proliferative effect of drug for cells was detected by MTT colorimetry; reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) was used to detect the expression of survivin messenger RNA. Results Sodium Cantharidate and vitamin B6 could inhibit the proliferation of MG-63 cells in a time and dose-dependent manner, and the inhibition rate could be as high as (68.56±5.21)%. RT-PCR showed downregulation of survivin gene expression. Conclusion The inhibitory effect of Sodium Cantharidate and vitamin B6 on the proliferation of MG-63 cells is obvious, and the mechanism may be related to down regulation of the expression of survivin.
