| Clinical effect of acupuncture combined with chiropractic therapy in treating acute lumbar sprain |

Abstract Objective To observe the clinical efficacy of acupuncture acupuncture at Li?觃ngqiū and Y?觃nglíngqu?觃n two points combined with chiropractic therapy in the treatment of acute lumbar sprain. Methods From April 2017 to December 2018, 200 patients with acute lumbar sprain treated in Outpatient Department of the Affiliated Hospital of Hebei University of Chinese Medicine and Sanhe Hospital in Hebei Province were selected as the study subjects. They were divided into treatment group and control group according to random number table method, with 100 cases in each group. The treatment group was treated with acupuncture at Li?觃ngqiū and Y?觃nglíngqu?觃n acupoints combined with chiropractic therapy, once a day, 5 days as a course of treatment; the control group was treated with Tongluo Qutong Cream for external use combined with chiropractic therapy, once a day, 5 days as a course of treatment. The efficacy of the two groups was evaluated after 1 course of treatment. The degrees of low back pain before and after treatment were evaluated by visual analogue scale (VAS) and the scores of clinical symptoms and signs (lumbar pain, lumbar function examination, forced posture, lumbar muscle tension, forward bending, lateral bending, turning over, standing, walking, pick-up test, straight leg elevation test). Results There was no significant difference in VAS scores between the two groups before treatment (P > 0.05). The VAS scores of the two groups were lower than those before treatment (P < 0.01), and the treatment group was lower than the control group (P < 0.05). There were no significant differences between the two groups in the symptoms and signs scores before treatment (P > 0.05). After treatment, the symptoms and signs scores of the two groups were lower than before treatment (P < 0.01), and the treatment group was lower than the control group (P < 0.05 or P < 0.01); the total effective rate of the treatment group was significantly higher than that of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P < 0.05). Conclusion Acupuncture at Li?觃ngqiū and Y?觃nglíngqu?觃n points combined with chiropractic therapy is effective in treating acute lumbar sprain, which is worthy of promotion.
