| Quality of life in children and adolescents with type 1 diabetes mellitus in Qinhuangdao |

Abstract Objective To explore the influencing factors of quality of life of children and adolescents with type 1 diabetes mellitus in Qinhuangdao area. Methods A total of 110 children and adolescents with type 1 diabetes who were enrolled in the First Hospital of Qinhuangdao and county-level hospital in Qinhuangdao from January 2015 to June 2018 were selected as observation group, while 110 healthy children and adolescents were selected as control group. The qualities of life of the two groups were assessed by the Pediatric Quality of Life Inventory Measurement Models. Results The scores of physiological function, emotional function, social function, school function and total score of the observation group were significantly lower than those of the control group, and the differences were statistically significant (P < 0.05). The rates of poor quality of life in parents separated or divorced, mother junior high school culture below, father junior high school culture below, and non-only children were significantly higher than those of parents who were married or cohabited, mother junior high school culture above, father junior middle school culture above, and only one children (P < 0.05). Logistic regression analysis showed that parents′ separation or divorce and non-only children were risk factors for the quality of life of children and adolescents with type 1 diabetes mellitus (OR = 2.489, 1.988, P < 0.05), and the mother′s educational level in junior middle school and above was the protective factor for the quality of life of children and adolescents with type 1 diabetes mellitus (OR = 0.800, P < 0.05). Conclusion The quality of life of children and adolescents with type 1 diabetes in Qinhuangdao area are related to their parents′marital status, whether they have only one child or not and their mother′s educational level.
