| The effects of health education combined with psychological counseling on anxiety and depression in outpatients with cataract |

Abstract Objective To explore the effects of health education combined with psychological counseling on anxiety and depression in outpatients with cataract. Methods A total of 90 cases of cataract outpatients from April 2015 to April 2017 in the First Affiliated Hospital of Harbin Medical University were selected as research objects and divided into the control group and the observation group by random number table, with 45 cases in each group. The control group was given routine nursing care and the observation group was given health education combined with psychological counseling on the basis of control group. The nursing satisfaction, scores of self-rating anxiety scale (SAS) and self-rating depression scale (SDS), scores of self-esteem scale (SES) were compared between the two groups. Results The nursing satisfaction in the observation group(93.33%) was higher than that of control group(75.56%), with statistically significant difference (P ＜ 0.05). Before nursing, there were no statistically significant differences in the scores of SAS, SDS and SES between the two groups (P ＞ 0.05). After nursing, the score of SAS and SDS were all lower than those of before nursing, the score of SES was higher than that of before nursing, and the scores above in the observation group changed more significantly, with statistically significant differences (P ＜ 0.05). Conclusion Health education combined with psychological counseling can effectively alleviate the anxiety and depression of cataract outpatients, promote the self-esteem and nursing satisfaction. It is worthy of promotion and application.
