Abstract The innovation education of college students has become the inevitable requirement and the direction of the future development of higher education. Student research training program is an important segment in the training system. This paper makes a useful exploration on the development of SRTP based on the research project of the tutor. Practice proved that relying on scientific research projects, enable the students to initially establish scientific research thinking, clear research objectives, cultivate and enhance scientific research ability, and produce better innovative results. At the same time, it can produce good innovation results and play a good foundation role for students' undergraduate and follow-up study. It is benefit the talent cultivation.
