| Discussion on Professor Duan Guangtang′s experience in treating chronic renal failure with the method of invigorating the spleen and kidney, excreting turbid and removing blood stasis |

Abstract Professor Duan Guangtang considers that the basic pathogenesis of chronic renal failure is deficiency in origin and enrichment in symptom. The former is asthenia of the spleen and kidney, the latter is accumulated blood stasis and damp turbidity. The basic rules for the treatment of this disease are invigorating the spleen and kidney, excreting turbid and removing blood stasis. The article introduces Professor Duan Guangtang′s academic viewpoint and clinical experience from the aspects of the pathogenesis and treatment of pruritic dermatosis, the presciption analysis of the NO.1 and NO.4 Decoction, and the clinical application of this method in the treatment of chronic renal failure diseases. Took the chronic kidney failure caused by glomerular disease, the main clinical manifestations included spleen-kidney qi(yang) deficiency; while the chronic kidney failure caused by renal tubular interstitial disease, the main manifestations included kidney-qi(yang) deficiency. Mainly tonifying the spleen and the kidney is adopted, we achieve well curative effect by using NO.1 and NO.4 Decoction to treat this disease, the therapy of Chinese medicine can curb the deterioration progress of renal function for thousand patients, thereby delay the time before entering dialysis therapy. Attachs two proved cases.
