Abstract Insomnia is a common clinical disease, which seriously affects the quality of life of patients. Traditional Chinese medicine calls it “unswerving”, and currently there are more side effects in the treatment of insomnia with western medicine. Professor Liu Longtao has extensive experience in the treatment of this disease. He draws the essence from Treatise on Febrile Diseases and Nei Jing, and combined with clinical experience, he believes that the pathogenesis of insomnia is closely related to the failure of Shaoyang Shuji operation, and should be treated from Shaoyang. And the using of Xiaochaihu Decoction addition and subtraction, the main prescription of Shaoyang disease, to reconcile Shaoyang can achieve good clinical results, which is worth promoting. The author is fortunate to learn from the teacher and have gained a lot. Now the author discusses Professor Liu′s experience of treating insomnia from Shaoyang.
