| Effects of Bushen Jiangu Decoction on postoperative healing and lumbar function in patients with osteoporotic compression fracture |

Abstract Objective To investigate the effect of Bushen Jiangu Decoction on postoperative healing and lumbar function in patients with osteoporotic compression fracture (OVCF). Methods A total of 93 cases of OVCF admitted to Panjin Central Hospital from January 2016 to January 2018 were selected as study subjects, and according to the random number table method, they were divided into control group (n = 46) and study group (n = 47). The patients in the control group were treated with Vitamin D Calcium Chewable Tablets, while the patients in the study group were treated with Bushen Jiangu Decoction on the basis of the treatment in the control group. They were treated for 14 days. Total clinical effective rate of the two groups after treatment was counted. The visual analogue scale (VAS) and Japanese Orthopedic Association low back pain scale (JOA) scores, bone mineral density of lumbar spine L2-L4, trochanter of femur, femur and the wedge angle of the injured vertebra, the Cobb angle of kyphosis and ratio of anterior vertebral height of injured vertebrae were measured before and after treatment. The adverse reactions of the two groups were observed. Results The total clinical effective rate of the study group was significantly higher than that of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P ＜ 0.05). After treatment, the VAS score , the wedge angle of the injured vertebra, the Cobb angle of kyphosis of the two groups were smaller than those before treatment, and those in the study group were less than the control group (P ＜ 0.05), while the JOA score, bone mineral density of lumbar spine L2-L4, trochanter of femur, neck of femur, and ratio of anterior vertebral height of injured vertebrae were significantly higher than those before treatment, and those in the study group were better than the control group (P ＜ 0.05). No serious adverse reactions occurred in the two groups during treatment. Conclusion The clinical curative effect of Bushen Jiangu Decoction in the treatment of OVCF is significant, which can significantly improve pain and clinical symptoms, promote postoperative fracture healing and improve lumbar function. It has high security, that provides a new thinking for clinical treatment of OVCF.
