Abstract Most findings of scientific research need to be shown through publishing research papers, so it is very important for train medical graduate students writing research articles. This article discusses the several issues about writing a research paper, including that research data are the basis of research articles, references reading is a precondition and innovation is a core of the articles. The skill and the procedure of writing a research article are also discussed, which involves that a central axis is necessary for an research article, results need to be planned and figures or tables need to be precisely prepared, a directivity is necessary for introduction, discussion should focus on results, methods reveal the research design, abstract need to be condensed, key words should be appropriate and title must be accurate. It should be shown in a research article that the research design and ideas, as well as the author's specific knowledge and writing skills.
