Analysis of proportion of drugs in hospitalization expenses before and after the intervention in a grade-A tertiary hospital

Abstract:Objective To emphasize the importance of decreasing the proportion of drugs, reduce hospitalization fees and control the rapid growth of hospitalization costs, in order to improve patients′ satisfaction and social benefits of hospital. Methods Through drug changes from 2012 to 2015 in Third Hospital of Hebei Medical University, different years of data were included and analyzed, such as hospital costs and drug costs, etc. 2012 was selected as the pre-reform control group, the measures of drug proportion, changes of drug and reducing drug proportion were discussed. Results After taking relevant measures, the hospital drug proportion in 2013 to 2015 were lower than 2012, and it decreased year by year, which was effectively controlled. Conclusion Only by realizing clinical norms diagnosis and treatment, formulating normative medication and comprehensive management, the proportion of medicine is effectively controled.
