Abstract:Objective To investigate the intervention effect of the Tell-Show-Do model on children with primary tooth orthodontic movement. Methods One hundred and sixty children with primary tooth orthodontic movement from September 2016 to October 2017 in Hangzhou Dental Hospital were selected and divided into control group (80 cases) and experimental group (80 cases) according to the children admission time. Routine clinical intervention or treatment was performed in the control group and Tell-Show-Do diagnosis and treat model was performed in the experimental group. The therapeutic demand index (IOTN scale), children's fear survey scale (CFSS-DS scale), treatment compliance (Frankl scale), treatment completion (Houpt scale) and psychological states (EPQ scale) between the two groups were compared before and after orthodontic treatment. Results After orthodontic treatment, the CFSS-DS scale in the experimental group was lower than the control group, the Frankl and Houpt scores were higher than the control group, the differences were statistically significant (P < 0.05). The differences in control group (L scale) and in experimental group (P, E, N, L scale) before and after orthodontic treatment were statistically significant (P < 0.05). The control-norm group (E, L scale before orthodontic), the experimental-norm group (P scale after orthodontic, E, L score before and after orthodontic, N score after orthodontic) indexes were statistically significant (P < 0.05). The differences in the scores of each scale (P scale, E scale, N scale and L scale after orthodontic) in the two groups were statistically significant (P < 0.05). There were statistically significant differences in knowledge dimension and behavioral dimension between the two groups (P < 0.05). The score of the children in the experimental group was significantly higher than that in the control group, and the difference of healthy self-management ability between the two groups was statistically significant (P < 0.05). Conclusion The Tell-show-do model and traditional methods have certain influence on the psychology and emotion of children with orthodontics. However, Tell-show-do model is more effective in promoting the psychological state, treatment compliance and healthy self-management, it can be further applied in clinic.
