Abstract:Objective To compare the serum content of iron and Copper Zinc in patients with minor recurrent aphthous ulcer (MiRAU) and healthy individuals, and then to analyze that whether there is a possible relationship between them and recurrent aphthous ulcer. Methods Ninty-seven patients with minor recurrent aphthous ulcer (MiRAU) confirmed in Department of Stomatology of Bethune International Peace Hospital (hereinafter referred to as "our hospital") from March 2015 to December 2016 and 102 healthy persons without MiRAU in our hospital were enrolled. The patients with MiRAU (group A) and healthy persons (group B) were extracted 5 mL fasting venous blood respectively, and then the chromaticity method was used to detect the serum concentration of Copper and Zinc irons in subjects. Results The serum content of Copper iron in those subjects of group A and group B were (16.77±3.89) μmol/L and (17.62±3.05) μmol/L, and there was no significant difference between the two groups (P > 0.05). The serum content of Zinc iron in those subjects of group A [(14.39±1.86)μmol/L] was significantly lower than that of group B [(16.18±2.46) μmol/L](P < 0.05). Conclusion The decrease of serum content of Zinc iron may be associated with recurrent aphthous ulcer.
