Abstract:Objective To investigate the status of anxiety, depression and sleep quality in coal miners with functional dyspepsia (FD). Methods A total of 246 coal miners examined by gastroscopy in North China University of Science and Technology Affiliated Hospital were interviewed from April to August in 2016. Among them, 50 cases were completely healthy people (control group), 196 cases were FD patients (FD group). They were carried out psychological assessments by self-rating anxiety scale (SAS) and self-rating depression scale (SDS), and evaluated sleep quality was by Pittsburgh sleep quality index questionnaire (PSQI). Results The SAS score, depression index, and rates of anxiety and depression in the FD group were higher than those in the control group, with statistically significant difference (P < 0.05). The PSQI total score, subjective sleep quality, sleep latency, sleep time, sleep efficiency and daytime function scores, and sleep disorder rate in the FD group were higher in the control group, with statistically significant difference (P < 0.05). Conclusion Coal miners with FD are with high prevalence of anxiety, depression and sleep disorders. Management department and the health administrative departments should strengthen their psychological health education and the rational allocation of mental health resources.
