Abstract:Objective To understand the current status of caregivers’ dementia-related knowledge of the Alzheimer’s disease (AD) patients in Urumqi, to analyze the influencing factors, and to provide a basis for improving the scores of caregivers’ dementia-related knowledge. Methods From May to October 2019, a two-stage random sampling method was used to select three districts and 12 community health service centers in Urumqi, and a total of 136 dementia elderly caregivers were investigated for dementia knowledge status and influencing factors analysis. Results The caregiver’s dementia-related knowledge score were (13.83±3.57) points. There was a statistically significant difference in the caregivers’s dementia-related knowledge scores of different genders, ages, and educational levels (P < 0.05). Nursing time and access to knowledge were influencing factors of caregivers’ dementia-related knowledge scores (P < 0.05). Conclusion The knowledge scores of AD patients caregivers are generally low, and the care time are long, the community health education approach to obtain care knowledge is helpful to improve the dementia knowledge scores of caregivers.
