Application of WeChat-led diversified health education in patients with Helicobacter pylori positive peptic ulcer

Abstract:Objective To explore the application effect of diversified health education based on WeChat in patients with Helicobacter pylori (Hp) positive peptic ulcer. Methods From July 2017 to June 2018, 125 patients with Hp-positive peptic ulcer admitted to the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi’an Jiaotong University were selected. According to the duration of hospitalization, they were divided into the treatment group (January 2018 to June 2018) with 64 cases and the control group (July 2017 to December 2017) with 61 cases. The control group was given regular health education, and the treatment group jointly applied diversified health education based on WeChat. Follow-up for 6 months, disease uncertainty, health literacy, healthy behavior, recurrence rate and other indicators between the two groups were compared. Results After 6 months of follow-up, the two groups’ disease ambiguity scores were significantly lower than those of the same group before education (P < 0.05), and patients had obvious ambiguity, complexity, unpredictability, and disease uncertainty total scores in the treatment group were lower than that in the control group (P < 0.05). The health literacy scores of the two groups were significantly higher than those before education in the same group (P < 0.05). The total scores of basic knowledge and concepts, healthy lifestyles and behaviors, basic skills, and health literacy of the treatment group were significantly higher than those of the control group (P < 0.05). After 6 months of follow-up, the health behavior scores of the experimental group were all better than those before education, nutrition, self-realization and general health behavior of the control group were better than those before education (P < 0.05), and exercise, interpersonal support and stress response of the experimental group were better than those of the control group (P < 0.05). The recurrence rate was significantly lower than the control group (P < 0.05). Conclusion Diversified health education based on wechat can help alleviate the uncertainty of Hp-positive peptic ulcer patients, promote the development of health literacy and healthy behavior, and reduce the recurrence rate of peptic ulcer.
